Skin Tag Removal

Skin Tag Removal

What are skin tags?

Skin tags are small, harmless growths that can appear anywhere on the skin, but are most common in areas where the skin rubs together, such as the neck, armpits, and groin.

Skin tags are usually flesh-coloured or slightly darker than the surrounding skin. They can be smooth or wrinkled, and they may have a small stalk or stem. Skin tags are very common, especially as people get older.

Skin tags are not dangerous, however some people may want to have them removed for cosmetic reasons or because they are irritated by clothing or jewellery

Initial Consultation

During your initial consultation, your doctor will examine your skin to confirm the diagnosis. Once the diagnosis is confirmed, your doctor will discuss your treatment options.

If the skin tags are small enough then these can be removed at the time for no extra cost. Larger skin tags requiring local anaesthetic will require removal in the operating room at a future date.

Benefits of Removal

  • Cosmetic Improvement: Skin tags can be unsightly, especially in visible areas like the neck or eyelids.
  • Irritation and Discomfort: Skin tags can become irritated by clothing or jewellery, leading to discomfort and even bleeding. Removing them can alleviate these issues.
  • Prevention of Infection: In rare cases, skin tags can become infected. Removing them can reduce the risk of infection and associated complications.
